Bob Sabella (CW '72) died in early December 2011. His Clarion nickname was Beastlord. Harlan Ellison, one of his CW instructors, asked workshop participants to write a story about their greatest fears. Harlan rated Bob’s story about rejection as the best of the bunch. That story combined simplicity with heart, just like Bob. For the last 40 years, Bob published a fanzine, Visions of Paradise, and was a member of the Fantasy Amateur Press association. His book Who Shaped Science Fiction contains 100 concise biographies of science fiction greats. Bob was a math teacher much beloved by his students and will be missed by everyone who knew him.
